Regularly sketching is great for capturing thoughts and exploring ideas. It’s a process I always cherish and making sketches and creating work in my sketchbook is an important part of my creative expression.
Below are some of my sketches from 14 July 2016
A sketchbook is great for experimenting with new concepts and ideas and I see it as a powerful problem-solving tool that I can return to later and use for developing my next art project.
Sketching gives me the freedom to illustrate my thoughts and what’s in my mind. It’s a safe space to experiment and generate ideas; somewhere I can test and play with shapes and colors before committing to my next project/artwork.
Today I am mainly focusing on background and texture. All four of my sketches were first layered with acrylic texture before being painted over with a purple colour.
Two of the sketches had blue and green colour added to the design.
Today:
* Painting with acrylics
* Mixing colours
* Exploring textures
* Combining blue, pink and purple colours
* Using white for highlights
* Single colour and dual-colour sketches
* Painting on acrylic paper
* Exploring geometric shapes & forms
