Regularly sketching is great for capturing thoughts and exploring ideas. It’s a process I always cherish and making sketches and creating work in my sketchbook is an important part of my creative expression.
Below are some of my sketches from 16 July 2016
A sketchbook is great for experimenting with new concepts and ideas and I see it as a powerful problem-solving tool that I can return to later and use for developing my next art project.
Sketching gives me the freedom to illustrate my thoughts and what’s in my mind. It’s a safe space to experiment and generate ideas; somewhere I can test and play with shapes and colors before committing to my next project/artwork.
Today I am spending my time experimenting with red and yellow colours.
A similar colour combination can be seen in one of my paintings, "Garden of Joy". In this painting, the colours have been combined with a thick white line for maximum contrast to create more defined areas within the painting.
I am also sketching on watercolour paper today instead of my usual acrylic paper, as I want to try our different background textures.
Today:
* Painting with acrylics
* Mixing colours
* Exploring textures
* Combining yellow, pink and purple colours
* Dual-colour sketches
* Painting on watercolour paper
* Exploring geometric shapes & forms
